Leadership Dispositions

Reflection activity focused on leadership dispositions. Aim is to build self knowledge and develop an action plan.

Thinking Dispositions...

"...thinking dispositions represent characteristics that animate, motivate, and direct our abilities toward good and productive things and are recognized in patterns of our frequently exhibited voluntary behaviours. Dispositions not only direct our strategic abilities but they help activate relevant content knowledge as well, bringing that knowledge to the forefront to better illuminate the situation at hand." (Ritchhart, 2002, p. 21)

Defining Teacher Dispositions...

"...the values, commitments and professional ethics that influence behaviours toward students, families, colleagues, and communities affect student learning, motivation, and development as well as the educator's own professional growth. Dispositions are guided by beliefs and attitudes related to values such as caring, fairness, honesty, responsibility, and social justice." (National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education, 2002 Professional standards for the accreditation of schools, colleges and departments of Education, Washington DC. p. 53)
